Not much new…

Posted in Uncategorized on February 26, 2009 by depechemom

There really isn’t much super exciting going on around here lately. I’m up to 8 days of workouts-had to miss a few days last week when I wasn’t feeling well. I’m already feeling stronger, though. I’m planning to start level 2 on Monday, so that will bring another big round of soreness!
One thing I’ve found as I’ve progressed is that taking it slowly (as far as impact) is making the soreness last and last. Maybe I’ll go all in with level 2 and see if it’s any better. And maybe I’ll collapse at the end. We’ll see!
Wednesday began our celebration of Lent. I’ve struggled with what to give up-I often struggle with this. I can come up with things to add on-exercise for one-but I have a hard time coming up with God-driven sacrifices. Belle wanted to give up something this year. I gave her a few choices of special treats she gets once a week, figuring that would be a good beginning for her. She chose to give up getting chocolate milk when she buys her lunch once a week. Explaining the reasoning for the sacrifice to her-a small sample for us of the sacrifice Jesus made for us-has been a good lesson for me as well. Do you give up/take on anything for Lent? I’d love for you to share what you do!
I’ve got my husband around again this weekend. Two in a row! I sure wish this warmer weather would stick around through the weekend, but it looks like we’ll be back in the 40’s for the high. Too bad, so sad.

Day 4!!

Little Lamb is sick with a nasty bug-cough, low grade fever, upset tummy and I spent 90% of the day on the sofa with her. I was determined NOT to miss my workout today as I was much less sore today.
So, I got the kids in bed, cleaned up the kitchen, and popped in the DVD. She has two girls working out-one a little easier than the other on certain exercises-and I’ve worked up to being in the middle of the two.
I’m headed to bed to work on my Bible Study, though I doubt I’ll actually get to go this week. Hope your family is staying healthier than mine!

Day 2

I’m happy to report I survived a second day of the workout. I’m definitely feeling my muscles today! I had to run for the phone a minute ago and I nearly collapsed on the way. 🙂 I’m off to soak in the tub!

Favorite toys of the day: Legos, legos, and more legos!

One of the kids’ favorite games right now is the “Raise Your Hand If You Like ____” game. Little Bear’s ideas generally focus on super hero stuff, Belle’s ideas scatter as widely as her interests do right now, and Little Lamb says “Little Einsteins!” at least 90% of the time. She throws her tiny arm in the air as high as it can go. She is, indeed, one of the cutest two year olds I’ve seen. Not that I’m biased, or anything!

I started the 30 Day Shred today. Whew, it’s good, but Ima gonna be sore tomorrow! And yes, it’s Valentine’s Day and I began my workout schedule today. With the meals I have planned today, I need it! J got called in to work this morning just after breakfast anyway. It’s sort of my Valentine’s gift to myself, actually.
I like that it’s a complete workout in 20 minutes, because that’s about as much time as my two little ones can handle having Mommy within reach but not doing something for/with them. That’s what was difficult about the Pilates. Once I got past the beginner workout, they started lasting 45 minutes. My kids are just too little (needy??) for that.
My plan, because there has to be a plan, is to dress for workout in the morning when I take Belle to school. Then I’ll come home, workout, shower and get on with the day. I also hope to keep you guys updated with my progress, as a bit of accountability never hurt anyone!

A new outlook!

I’m toying around with some different themes on my blog.  I’m a bit tired of the misty look, but I’m not so sure this in “the one”.  It started with a simple banner change, but the silly computer kept tossing the photos out into space somewhere.  Once I finally got the photo to show up, it felt a bit bland.  So, I started testing themes.  The computer tossed my image a couple more times, and now here we are.  Hopefully with a wintery image.  That’s actually Belle there next to that big tree.  I love the sense of perspective it gives.  She seems so big to me most days, but this picture brings things back to reality.

We had a lovely snow storm last Monday night.  I came to bed around 10:30.  J was already in bed studying.  He pulled out his ipod to check the weather forecast and noticed it said it was snowing.  I immediately ran back to the living room and turned on the porch light.  Sure enough there was a beautiful blanket of snow on the ground!  We got about an inch, which was great fun.  Just the right amount for a 2 hour school delay, but not so much to mess up the roads terribly.

This was taken on Monday night:

Seems we’ll have to put the rest in as a gallery.  I thought I was saving myself time/effort by downloading them all, then inserting them.  But now I can’t find figure out how to add them individually.  I’ve used about all the computer time Little Lamb can stand-ok more than she can stand-so a gallery it is!

Belle came home with a new website from computer lab the other day: http://www.kerpoof.com  You do have to sign up to use some of the extra features, but it seems to be a fun, creative sight.  We still love http://www.starfall.com, esp for those early readers.
